Abstract

The influence of Yiddish on American English in the area of humorous language is examined. Several hundred Yiddish lexemes & phrases have been incorporated into English. Yiddish influences on phonology, syntax, discourse, rhetorical devices, & kinesics are briefly discussed. 7 References. B. Annesser Murray
