Abstract

The objective of this research is to show the characteristics and difficulties encountered by the Spanish Third Sector organizations regarding the implementation of a Communication for Development and Social Change. The results of the methodology of the panel of experts, held in 2016, are presented to five organizations. The results suggest that these: 1) have been permeable to the participatory perspective of this approach; 2) they encounter external and internal barriers to their implementation; and, 3) dialogue with local and global networks of cooperation and solidarity. The conclusions show the subsidiary character in the introduction of this approach in Spain (Marí-Sáez, 2013) assumed by other bordering subfields, and at the same time, different to this perspective, such as the Education for development; outline strategies to overcome barriers; and it is detected that participation in networks acts as a source of experiences and strategies from this perspective.
