Abstract
From a multidisciplinary approach, this paper presents a critical review of the previous conceptual map of the readers of what has traditionally been referred to as Children and Young People's Literature (CYPL) and reflects on the impact that their different profiles may have on its translation. On the basis of these considerations, a new CYPL classification model is proposed. Applied to the context of Translation Studies, this will offer more precise data on its readers' true interests and expectations with regards to the foreignization vs. domestication dichotomy as well as on the translator behavior and the editorial tendencies in this respect.
