Abstract

The results reported are the first of a series dealing with the timbers of thesouth-west Pacific area and cover 22 genera of the family Anacardiaceae. Based on the examination of available species, the anatomical features of each genus have been summarized and the results set out in tabular form for comparative purposes. The relationshipbetween botanical classification and the wood anatomy of the genera concerned has been discussed. From the information presented it is suggested that a simple card sortingkeycan be readily developed. © 1948 CSIRO. All rights reserved.
