Abstract
Computational media can be used to provide rich, explorative, constructive environments - from using student-shot video as data for mathematical analyses to constructing stories using video; from manipulating genes at the biochemical level and at the organism level to manipulating functions in their table and graph representations. Learners have the opportunity to directly experience otherwise abstract notions. Moreover, reconstructible and multiformatted computational media also enable designers to better craft these environments to address the special needs of learners.
