Abstract
In Brazil, Hip Hop is being used in street work to empower young people and allow them a better future. In our research, we considered that the use of art applied to the Hip Hop community would: (a) increase the development of self-esteem, (b) increase the bonding between them and the teacher, and (c) develop a positive process social promotion. From a design based on the critical communicative methodology has analyzed the proposal carried out at Espacio Mestizo through focus groups, interviews with participants, in-depth expert panel and journal investigator. The proposal based on a graffiti workshop has shown that this art of Hip Hop implemented in a participatory manner is a tool that improves self-esteem, relationships, and social advancement.
