Meal times that are often overlooked are in the morning which is usually called breakfast. Most adults to maintain physical health, body immunity to work and affect work activity. Breakfast habits greatly affect the concentration of learning so that what is learned can be understood so that learning achievement is good and increases. The United States is a developed country, based on the American Dietetic Association, > 40% of girls do not have breakfast, while 32% of boys do not have breakfast. A 2002 Sibuea study found that 57.5% of school children in Medan never had breakfast. This research is an analytic descriptive study with a cross-sectional approach. This research was to see the relationship between breakfast and the performance index of midwifery students at the Faculty of Health, University of Muhammadiyah West Sumatra and was carried out in August 2022. The sample selection for this study used total sampling where all DIII Midwifery Study Program students Semester 3 and 5 with a sample of 49 respondents. All data collected was processed using the Chi-Square test. Based on the results of bivariate data processing, it was found that p-value = 0.045 which indicates that there is a relationship between breakfast and student achievement index. The conclusion of this study is that breakfast habits are related to student achievement index.
