MORFOLOGIA E GÊNESE DAS DUNAS FRONTAIS DO LITORAL DO ESTADO DO PARANÁ

Abstract

FOREDUNE MORPHOLOGY AND GENESIS ON THE STATE OF PARANÁ. Morpho-logic aspects along with textura! and sedimentary structures of dune ridges that occur or existed until they were de-structed by urban occupation along the coastal plain of state of Parana (Brazil) were analized. Wind patterns and rainfall records in the area were also described in order to understand the origin and evolution of the dune ridges. Some variables that may have conditioned dune evolution are also discussed, allowing to conclude that all dune ridges have been formed close to the coast line from frontal dunes, with the help of vegetation and that there was no significant migration. Different degrees in development of these ridges are believed to be owed to changes in the variables that are the cause of their evolution, mainly climatic changes and velocity in sea level changes. Morphological differences are credited to changes in climatic conditions that occured as dune ridges were formed. One may also ask if there really existed the process of dune "dissipation". RESUMO Neste trabalho, analisam-se a morfologia, as características texturais e as estruturas sedimentares dos cordões dunares que existem ou existiram, até serem destruídos pela ocupação urbana, ao longo do litoral paranaense e descrevem-se as características dos ventos e precipitações na área, com o objetivo de compreender a origem e evolução dos cordões dunares. São discutidas quais as variáveis que influenciam a evolução das dunas, concluindo-se que todos os cordões dunares formaram-se junto à linha de costa, a partir de dunas frontais, com o auxílio da vegetação e que não houve migração significativa das dunas. O diferente grau de desenvolvimento dos cordões foi atribuído a mudanças nas variáveis que comandaram sua evolução, principalmente climáticas, e à velocidade das variações relativas do nível do mar. As diferenças morfológicas foram atribuídas a variações nas condições climáticas ocorridas durante a formação dos cordões. Questiona-se, também, a existência do processo de "dissipação" de dunas.
