Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyse situation in the Polish housing market in 2009-2013 against the background of other EU countries. This article describes a deficit situation in the housing market, housing resources, the number of flats built per year and governmental programmes to support housing. The study examines the problems of flats for rent by comparing their percentage in Poland with the percentage of flats in the European Union. The situation in the Polish housing market was analysed from the standpoint of the vision of social market economy for Europe of the 21st century.
