Benefits of horizontal collaborative networks in micro and small supply chains in emerging markets

Abstract

High global competition has put pressure on organizations to adopt new strategies, more so in micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in highly volatile economies such as emerging economies. This article seeks to recognize the benefits of horizontal collaborative networks HCN and their interrelation with theoretical positions such as dynamic supply chain capabilities SCDC and dynamic capabilities ecosystem DCE. To this end, a protocol is structured using tools for the systematic review of literature such as the PRISMA methodology, focusing from seminal studies to those aligned with Latin American studies of collaborative networks. The results obtained reveal that the integration generated between MSEs in highly sensitive production chains such as agri-food can contribute to risk management, distribute costs and obtain economic benefits by increasing their bargaining power with suppliers or marketing channels, thanks to the use and combination of the resources and capacities of the different actors that are integrated, showing the importance of strengthening a DCE, rational use of resources and the construction of HCN, ensuring economic sustainability and the development of competitive advantages, finally recognizing the scarce progress of this type of networks in emerging countries and even more so in Colombia, justifying the need for studies and contributions in this line of research.
