Abstract

This article reviews and advances existing literature concerning the sustainable deployment of self-driving cars on public roads. Using and replicating data from AAA, Adobe Analytics, ANSYS, Atomik Research, Capgemini Research Institute, CivicScience, eMarketer, Morning Consult, and Schoettle & Sivak (2014), we performed analyses and made estimates regarding how consumers would like to spend their time while not actively steering the car during transit (%), U.S. adults who are concerned about select autonomous car features (%), and U.S. adults doubting why cars will not have the ability to drive themselves 10 years from now (%). Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling.
