Abstract

This research aimed to understand the perception of the health professional(s) of the primary care about violence situations against women and to identify the strategies facing this problem. Therefore, a qualitative research was carried out through four focal groups, with further analysis of the information through the technique of Grounded Theory. The professionals recognize the presence of this violence; however, there is not always a reception or intervention. On the other hand, some professionals exemplified strategies to intervene and reported the effects of this interference in the reduction of the violence episodes. The results show up some questions that guide these positions and behaviours and are important for the reflection on the potentialities of Primary Care in this area.
