Abstract

Chikusetsusaponin I, la, lb, IVa, and glycoside Pa, the minor saponins and fatty-acylglycoside of Panacis japonici rhizoma (rhizome of Panax japonicum C. A. Meyer) Have been isolated. The structure of these saponins have been established as 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, respectively. Chikusetsusaponin I is identical with ginsenoside-Rg2, isolated from P. ginseng C. A. Meyer, While chikusetsusaponin IVa is identical with saponin C, isolated from P. pseudo ginseng subsp. himalaicus var. angustifolius. © 1976, The Pharmaceutical Society of Japan.
