Optically active epoxy-ionones and epoxy-carotenoids and their solvolytic conversions to glycols. Syntheses of 3,5,6-trihydroxy-5,6-dihydro-β-endgroups and derived carotenoids. Isolation and structures of 12 novel carotenoids from petals of Rosa foetida: stereoisomeric luteoxanthins, auroxanthins, latoxanthins and latochromes.
