Abstract
The 5,5-bis(4'-iodophenyl)imidazolidine-2,4-dione was prepd. either by direct iodination of 5,5-diphenylimidazolidine-2,4-dione (phenytoin) or through the iodination of phenytoin intermediates (benzoin and benzil) followed by the std. procedure for their conversion to phenytoin. The targeted compd. was evaluated and compared with the antimicrobial activity of phenytoin. [on SciFinder(R)]
