Abstract

Nutrition and health problems for adolescent females include anemia. Adolescent females are ten times more likely to suffer from anemia than adolescent males, this is because of adolescent females experience menstruation every month. The long-term impact of anemia in adolescence allows them to be unable to fulfill nutrients for themselves and the fetus during pregnancy, causing complications in pregnancy and childbirth, the risk of giving birth with low birth weight (LBW), and perinatal mortality. One of the fulfillment of nutrients that can increase hemoglobin level is by consuming dates (Phoenix dactylifera). The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of date palm juice. This type of research was a quasi-experimental design with one group pretest and posttest design. The sampling technique used was saturated sampling. The analytical test used was the paired sample t-test. The results showed that the significance value (2-tailed) was 0.000 (p <0.05), Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted so that the results of Hb level before and after giving dates fruit experienced significant changes, so it can be concluded that giving date palm juice can increase Hb level with a difference between -1.0510 to -0.7436.
