Abstract
The relationship between heterozygosity and the probability of monomorphism. is evaluated under several competing hypotheses. It is shown that such a relationship alone has very little discriminatory power in distinguishing between the alternative hypotheses unless the selection pressure is quite strong. © 1978 The Genetical Society of Great Britain.
