Abstract
The landscape of mental health care in the community in England is changing in response to the Mental Health Community Transformation (NHS England 2019). An increased number of people with severe mental illness will be seen solely in primary care. Currently little is known about how people with severe mental illness are supported in primary care and the preparedness of primary care teams to respond to these changes. This article will highlight key literature on severe mental illness in primary care and areas for future research.
