Abstract

Nowadays Medical Imaging has an increasing need in patient treatment, not only it aids physicians in determining the correct diagnosis but also it reduces overall cost and speedup treatment plans. Medical Image Registration is a vital medical imaging application it aligns one image to another, to obtain a registered image has the information content of both images. Our paper purpose is to provide a literature of Medical image registration methods based on Mutual Information, showing implementation techniques, challenges, and optimization approaches, Mutual Information have been shown to be accurate and robust similarity measure at registering images specially for multimodal images taken from different imaging devices and/or modalities.
