Cultural Barriers in Women Empowerment in the Rural Areas of Faisalabad

Abstract

The ability of women to participate in sociocultural, economic, and political life is crucial for their ability to maintain their homes, grow as individuals, and support their economies. The purpose of this study was to examine cultural constraints on women’s empowerment in rural Faisalabad district. This study used questionnaire to gather data from the targeted population including the women of various status in Faisalabad district. It was discovered that Pakistani society is thought to be a male-dominated society, as a result, men, especially in rural regions, adopt unacceptable behavior towards their wives. The study recommends educating the public, specifically men, about the importance of granting equal rights to women through official and informal instruction beginning in infancy phases.
