Abstract
In this study, we aimed to analyze the periodic variation of meteorological variables in tree-lined streets in Curitiba, Parana state, Brazil. To this end, we selected a few stretches of streets with and without trees. Two Kestrel® mini weather stations were used. The data collection period was from 9 AM to 3 PM with 1-minute monitoring interval during the four seasons, starting in winter 2011. The microclimatic variables assessed were temperature, relative humidity, and wind speed. The results indicated that the temperature values for the tree-lined street stretches were lower than those for the stretches without trees along the entire monitoring period. The opposite occurred with the relative humidity values. The wind speed values varied according to each sample and station. In conclusion, the periodic variation of meteorological variables showed that tree-lined streets provide a milder microclimate during most of the day.
