Abstract

Objetive: to identify the relationship between social support and recreational activities in border elderly people. Method: correlational and transversal type design. Sampling for convenience, with 110 older adults from the city of Matamoros, Tamaulipas. A personal data card, a list of recreational activities and the DUKE-UNC-1 functional social support questionnaire were used. Results: the mean age was 70.98 years (SD = 6.54) and 99% were women. Physical conditioning was the most reported activity (53.6). Affective social support was observed in 56.3% while that of trust in 51.8%.
