The need for raw material of andesite is increasing along with the development and acceleration of infrastructure in Indonesia. Andesitic rocks can be used as material for constructing sidewalks, building foundations, or in mixing concrete. In andesite mining, it is necessary to analyze appropriate mining methods for a productive, effective and efficient mining activity. This research aims to understand the rock mass classification, excavation ability, and to recommend a slope model for a safe and efficient mining activity. Methods used in this research include geomechanical classification with rock mass rating (RMR), slope mass rating (SMR), and rock excavation ability analysis. Based on this classification, the rock mass in the study area can be categorized as a good rock with RMR value of 69 – 79 and SMR 53° - 65°. Recommendation for mining is by using the ripping-blasting method.
