Abstract
A novel fibre-optic torsion sensor based on a long-period fiber grating written by high-frequency CO2 laser pulses is proposed and has been demonstrated. Such a torsion sensor can not only measure the applied twist rate directly, but also determine the twist direction simultaneously.
