Abstract

This research was carried out specifically with the aim of developing mathematical comic media for fourth grade elementary school students. This study describes how to identify the initial needs for developing comic media, describe the design of comic media, describe the implementation of comic media, and describe the final product of mathematical comic media with the concept of equivalent fractions in the fourth grade of elementary school. This study uses a research and development method based on the Design Based Research (DBR) method with the Revees implementation stage model, namely identifying and analyzing initial development needs, designing comic media products, testing comic media, and making the final comic media product a mass product. The data collection techniques used were interviews, validation, documentation, observation, and questionnaires. The data analysis technique used adopted the Miles and Huberman technique (Sugiyono, 2015) namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. In line with the results of the improvement of the respondent's data obtained from expert assessments and trials, the overall media feasibility aspect has reached a good standard. And students are very enthusiastic and fun when using comic media. The conclusion of this research is that comics media are suitable to be used for teaching and learning activities in mathematics learning.
