Abstract

One of the problems that still exists today is maritime crime. Maritime crimes are crimes that occur in the waters, especially at sea. Maritime crimes can be in the form of sea piracy, smuggling, shipping crimes, marine pollution crimes, and many more. In fact, in Indonesia there are still many maritime crimes, this is due to the vast territorial waters in Indonesia. In this paper, various kinds of maritime crimes will be explained, the reasons for the occurrence of maritime crimes, as well as efforts to prevent them in the criminological aspect. Maritime crimes must be dealt with immediately so that no one is harmed by either the state or the environment. Criminology itself is a branch of science that studies crime and criminal acts, therefore criminology and maritime crime have a very close relationship. Dalam penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa penyebab adanya kejahatan di laut dapat dijelaskan melalui teori kriminologi yaitu, teori positive, teori kritis, dan teori klasik. In this study it was found that the causes of crime at sea can be explained through criminological theory, namely, positive theory, critical theory, and classical theory.
