Abstract
Alexia may be divided into different sub-types, with semantic paralexia being particu¬larly rare. A 57 year old woman with a discreet left thalamic stroke and semantic paralexia is described. Language evalution with the Boston Diagnostic Aphasia Battery confirmed the semantic paralexia (deep alexia). Multimo¬dality magnetic resonance imaging brain scan¬ning excluded other cerebral lesions. A good recovery ensued.
