Abstract
Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) consists of small sensor devices, which are connecting wirelessly each other to sensing and delivering specific data to the Base Station (BS). Routing Protocols in WSNs became an active area for both researchers and industrials, due to its responsibility for data delivering, extending network lifetime, reducing the delay and saving the nodes energy. According to hierarchical approach, chain base routing protocol is a promising type that can prolong the network lifetime and decreasing the energy consumption for WSNs nodes. However, chain base routing protocols still suffering from long/single chain impact such as delay and data redundancy. Therefore, this paper proposed Backbone Construction Mechanism (BCM), which is the first mechanism in the Backbone-Chain-Next-for Deterministic nodes deployment (BCND) routing protocol. BCM is responsible for chain construction and nodes connection in BCND protocol by using multi chains and multi clusters concept to take the advantage of chain and cluster approaches. BCND with impact of BCM mechanism shows the superiority on the CCM and TSCP routing protocols in terms of end-to-end and energy consumption during the network lifetime rounds.
