Abstract

Discuss the role of routine early postoperative oral calcium and/or vitamin D supplementation in preventing symptomatic post-thyroidectomy hypocalcemia. Describe the effect of treatment with a combination of oral calcium and vitamin D supplements on the risk of hypocalcemia in post-thyroidectomy patients and its potential to facilitate early discharge.
