Liquid Organic Fertilizer (LOF) as a Substitute for Nitrogen Fertilizer in Rice on Acid Soils

Abstract

The application of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) enriched with micronutrients to plants growing on acidic soils was very effective in meeting nutritional needs. The purpose of this study was to obtain a dose of LOF that can increase yields on acidic soils. The study was conducted in Malang, from October 2018 - February 2019, the study used a randomized block design with 9 treatments. LOF has a very noticeable influence on the growth and yield of rice plants because it was suspected that the nutrients applied through the leaves more effective. The addition of LOF 18 ml. l-1 at a dose of 100% urea, dry grain reached 7.6 t.ha-1, it yield was higher than the treatment of 100% urea without LOF which was 6.75 t/ha. RAE calculations show that the D treatment produced a RAE value that reached 143%, while the second highest RAE value was the H treatment which has a RAE value = 122%. The analysis of farming business in treatment D reached a total profit of Rp. 21.847.000 and the second largest profit was in treatment H with a profit of Rp. 20.313.400. Adding LOF of as much as 18 ml.l-1 have substituted urea till 50%.
