Abstract
Calciumhydroxyapatite thin films have been prepared by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis deposition on titanium substrate. The surface morphologies of the films formed at different deposition times were analysed by using SEM. The mechanism of the films formation was investigated in relation to the observed film morphology during the first stages of its formation, as well as to its consolidation to the final form. The chemical homogeneity of the synthesized films was determined by using EDS analysis, whereas the phase composition was determined by using XRD measurements and IR spectroscopy. The roughnesses and the thicknesses of the films were analysed by using surface profiler method. The continuous morphology films are obtained only for samples deposited more than 1.5 h. ©2005 The Japan Institute of Metals.
