Abstract

Pendahuluan: Dunia medis menghadapi tantangan besar terkait luka infeksi, salah satunya akibat infeksi bakteri Staphylococcus aureus, terutama karena munculnya ketahanan bakteri terhadap pengobatan antibiotik, termasuk galur Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Perhatian terhadap potensi tanaman mangrove, khususnya Rhizophora mucronata, telah meningkat sebagai hasil dari pencarian alternatif pengobatan berbasis bahan alam. Tinjauan literatur ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji seberapa baik ekstrak R. mucronata menghentikan penyebaran S. aureus dan membantu penyembuhan luka.Metode: Metode yang digunakan adalah telaah pustaka yang dilakukan melalui pengumpulan dan analisis data sekunder dari sejumlah publikasi ilmiah yang relevan seperti basis data Pubmed dan Google Scholar. Literatur dikaji berdasarkan kandungan senyawa aktif dalam daun R. mucronata serta uji efektivitas antibakteri ekstraknya terhadap bakteri S. aureus, baik melalui pendekatan in vitro maupun in vivo.Pembahasan: Berdasarkan hasil dari berbagai studi eksperimental yang telah kami telaah, ekstrak R. mucronata, yang mengandung banyak senyawa aktif seperti tanin, flavonoid, alkaloid, saponin, fenol, dan steroid, terbukti memiliki sifat antibakteri dan antioksidan serta mempercepat penyembuhan jaringan luka.Simpulan: Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa berbagai bentuk obat, seperti salep dan gel, memiliki tingkat keberhasilan penyembuhan luka yang sebanding dengan agen tradisional. Ekstrak ini dapat digunakan sebagai obat alami untuk mengobati infeksi kulit akibat S. aureus, terutama di tengah krisis resistensi antibiotik.Introduction: The medical field is currently facing significant challenges in managing infected wounds, especially those caused by Staphylococcus aureus, due to the rise of antibiotic-resistant strains such as Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). In response, interest in natural-based treatments has grown, particularly in mangrove plants like Rhizophora mucronata, known for their bioactive compound content. This literature review aims to assess the potential of R. mucronata leaf extract in suppressing the growth of S. aureus and enhancing wound healing processes.Method: The analysis was conducted by systematically examining secondary data from peer reviewed scientific articles from databases including PubMed and Google Scholar. The literature was reviewed based on the presence of active compounds in R. mucronata, such as tannins, flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, phenols, steroids, and their antibacterial activity was tested through in vitro and in vivo studies.Discussion: Findings from multiple experimental studies indicate that R. mucronata extract possesses strong antibacterial and antioxidant properties and accelerates tissue regeneration. Furthermore, topical formulations like ointments and gels derived from this extract show comparable healing efficacy to conventional treatments.Conclusion: These results suggest that R. mucronata extract could serve as a promising natural alternative for managing skin infections caused by S. aureus, particularly in the context of rising antibiotic resistance.
