Abstract

A variety of test organisms were examined for sensitivity to Pandorina toxin. Both sensitive and insensitive algae were revealed by the screening process. Obligate aerobic bacteria and higher plants were found to be sensitive to the toxin. The mechanism of bacterial growth inhibition was found to involve a freely reversible equilibrium between the organism and its surroundings. © 1983 British Phycological Society.
