Abstract

In order to establish metallurgical bonding technology of bulk metallic glasses, friction welding of Zr41Be23Ti 14Cu12Ni10 bulk metallic glass with a wide supercooled liquid region and high glass forming ability has been tried. The Zr41Be23Ti14Cu12:Ni10 bulk metallic glass has successfully welded to the same bulk metallic glass together. Moreover, the effects of friction-welding conditions such as friction time, rotational speed and upsetting pressure have been investigated under a wide range of conditions, no crystallization and no defects were observed in the interface.
