Failure of single dose amoxycillin as prophylaxis against endocarditis

Abstract

The development of bacterial endocrine remains a definite risk in patients with established valvular disease of the heart. We report bacterial endocarditis occurring in a patient after dental clearance despite the prophylactic administration of a 3 g oral dose of amoxycillin.
