Abstract

The silica-dependent mineral equilibria in the system MgO-SiO2-H2O for reactions talc + 5H2O = chrysotile + 2H4SiO4 and talc + 4H2O = 1.5 forsterite + 2.5H4SiO4 were investigated from 200° to 600°C at 1kb H2O and at 90°C and 1 bar total pressure.
