Abstract

The financing of cultural industries at the state level has been relatively well studied in Slovenia in recent years. Nevertheless, research has not yet addressed the issue of local and regional development. The aim of this article is to present the spatial aspects of the financing of cultural industries from public funds in the Republic of Slovenia in the period 2007–2018. For this purpose, we have analysed the data of the Ministry of Finance on municipal budgets. The results show the municipalities’ investments in the cultural sector over time, which mainly followed macroeconomic trends. Spatially, the differences in the amount and type of investment in cultural industries are shown according to the development of the municipalities. Statistical analysis showed a weak but statistically significant and positive correlation between municipal investments in cultural industries and indicators of municipal development.
