In the search for a reliable and low-cost energy storage system, a lithium-iodide redox flow lithium battery is proposed, which consists of a lithium anode and an iodide catholyte with LiFePO4 as a solid energy storage material. This system demonstrates a good cycling performance and capacity retention. It can potentially achieve an energy density of 670 W h L-1.
