Abstract
Visible and near-infrared absorption spectrophotometry provides a satisfactory method for quantitative analysis of molten salt solutions. This technique made it possible to study the disproportionation of uranyl(V). The reaction 2 UO2+ + 4 HClUO22+ + U4+ + 2 H2O + 4 Cl− is in accord with the observations made in fused LiCl-KCl eutectic at 450° for pressures of hydrogen chloride ranging from 60 to 230 mm Hg. © 1972, Elsevier Publishing Company.
