Abstract

The whitefly genus, Indoaleyrodes David and Subramaniam is reported for the first time from Japan with description of Indoaleyrodes japonica sp. nov. Indoaleyrodes geminata Pushpa and Sundararaj syn. nov. and I. strychnosae Pushpa and Sundararaj syn. nov. are synonymized with I. laos (Takahashi) through examination of holotype. Puparia of the new species are causing leaf pit-galls in leaves of Eurya japonica (Pentaphylacaceae) in Shizuoka, Japan. Ecological information on the new species and leaf gall forming whiteflies is given. Line drawings, images of holotype and habitus, and an identification key to puparia of Indoaleyrodes species so far described are provided.
