Observing Elephants in Africa

Abstract

Notes that the presence of fewer bulls in the Savuti Channel in September/October 1977 was probably due to the continued standing water in pans outside the area. A number of cow herds exceeding 50 animals were seen in Channel area and reproduction appeared high. In March 1978 during a visit to Kenya which included 7 national parks less than 500 animals were seen.
