Abstract

The modal age and median age of menopause of 443 women from 1951 to 1961 were found to be 50.1 years, using the probit transformation. This represents an increase of about 4 years in the age of menopause compared with that of a hundred years ago. The causes of this delay in the menopause are discussed. © 1964, British Medical Journal Publishing Group. All rights reserved.
