The need to believe and its oceanic sources The origin of the need of believing deserves diving into the mental archaic abyss whose traces may be found in certain phenomena as « oceanic feeling ». Romain Rolland, Freud, Winnicott, Meltzer and some other authors, inspired by the infant pathologies like autism, allow us to see links between those experiences of life and a mental early mode of believing, characterized by its absence of limits. © érès.
