Abstract

Abstrak. Rumen adalah salah satu lambung ternak ruminansia dalam melakukan proses pencernaan secara kimiawi yang dibantu oleh mikroba rumen. Selain itu, pakan merupakan faktor penting bagi ternak oleh karenanya perlu dilakukan suatu metode guna menguji fermentabilitas pakan yang cocok dan baik bagi sapi. Tujuan penelitian ialah untuk memanfaatkan limbah pertanian menjadi pakan ternak silase dan mengevaluasi proses fermentasi cairan rumen sapi menggunakan limbah pertanian yang sudah menjadi pakan silase (batang jagung, ampas tebu dan jerami padi). Penelitian ini menggunakan cairan rumen sapi yang berasal dari RPH (Rumah Potong Hewan) adapun limbah pertanian yang digunakan adalah batang jagung, ampas tebu dan jerami padi. Perlakuan terdiri dari empat, yaitu P0 (rumen). P1 (silase batang jagung), P2 (silase ampas tebu) dan P3 (silase jerami padi). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kadar amonia dan VFA cairan rumen sapi yang difermentasi dengan silase untuk masing-masing perlakuan P0, P1, P2 dan P3 adalah amonia 4,21 mM, 1,58 mM, 3,49 mM dan 4,21 mM dan VFA 3,992 g/L,391 g/L,99 g/L dan 4,78 g/L.Fermentation of Various Types of Silage Feed in Cow Rumen FluidAbstract. The rumen is one of the stomachs of ruminant livestock which carries out the chemical digestive process which is assisted by rumen microbes. Apart from that, feed is an important factor for livestock, therefore it is necessary to use a method to test the fermentability of feed that is suitable and good for cattle. The aim of the research is to utilize agricultural waste into silage animal feed and evaluate the fermentation process of cow rumen fluid using agricultural waste that has become silage feed (corn stalks, bagasse and rice straw). This research uses cow rumen fluid originating from the slaughterhouse (Slaughterhouse). The agricultural waste used is corn stalks, sugar cane bagasse and rice straw. There were four treatments, namely P0 (rumen). P1 (corn stalk silage), P2 (sugarcane bagasse silage) and P3 (rice straw silage). The results showed that the ammonia and VFA levels of cow rumen fluid fermented with silage for each treatment P0, P1, P2 and P3 were 4.21 mM, 1.58 mM, 3.49 mM and 4.21 mM ammonia and VFA 3.992 g/L, 391 g/L, 99 g/L and 4.78 g/L.
