Abstract
The work is devoted to the consideration of national identity, which in the context of globalization is at the stage of transformation and is experiencing a deep crisis. The research uses a philosophical and anthropological approach, as well as an existential one. With their help, the essence and significance of national identity is revealed in the process of understanding a person and a nation of their place in the world and finding a way for further development. The acquisition and loss of identity are considered as integral elements of the globalization process of the 21st century, in which each nation faces a choice of self-determination (preservation of identity) or self-destruction (renunciation of identity).
