Abstract

Biomedical engineering common in human medical care can also benefit livestock production. Technologies including electrocardiographic monitoring systems, oximeters, and flexible and rigid endoscopes are incorporated in small town veterinary clinics. Other applications of medical engineering are electrocardiography, ultrasonic imaging, computer modeling, and the use of pressure sensors and pedometry in the detection of estrus in dairy cattle.
