PEMANFAATAN VCO (VIRGIN COCONUT OIL) SEBAGAI PRODUK MINYAK ANGIN DAN MASSAGE OIL DI DESA PENARUKAN TABANAN BALI

Abstract

Penarukan Village is one of the villages located in the Tabanan Regency of Bali with the majority of its population being farmers, one of which is coconut farmers. Coconut management that has been carried out in Penarukan Village is limited to the main product in the form of Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) so that it needs to be developed into a finished product that has a high selling value. The purpose of this activity is to provide new skills on how to process VCO using the cold process method, product development from VCO into other preparations such as wind oil and massage oil. The method in this activity is in the form of training in VCO making skills using the cold process method and how to make wind oil and massage oil from VCO as the basic ingredient. The stages in this activity include pre-test, material presentation, demonstration, post-test, and evaluation of results. The results of the training showed an increase in the understanding of participants who took part in the training on making wind oil and massage oil products from processed VCO which can provide added economic value to the community. The increase in participant understanding can be seen from the increase in the average percentage of pre-test and post-test scores, with an average pre-test of 80.94% and post-test of 89.52%. The results of the statistical test also provide a significance value of 0.000 (P <0.05) which means that there is a significant difference in the understanding of the counseling participants before and after being given the material. The products produced are of good quality, so that this program has succeeded in providing community-based solutions in empowering the local economy, through the utilization of natural resources.
