Abstract

Programmed cell death, or apoptosis, has become one of the hottest research areas in cell biology. its importance has been recognized in a variety of specialties. Basic gerontology research has seen strong growth spurred by the aging of the population. Basic mechanisms of aging -- Molecular mechanisms controlling cellular senescence -- Programmed cell death: mechanisms and role in development, aging, and disease.
