Abstract

The silicic acid agro technology (SAAT) is the application of stabilized silicic acid on the plant. SAAT can be used as a foliar spray or as a soil amendment. The foliar application of (stabilized) silicic acid induces significantly better results for growth, yield and quality parameters compared to ‘traditional’ silica soil fertilizers and foliar sprays with silicates. Foliar silicic acid is only effective at very low dose rates during the vegetative stage and should be regarded as a biostimulant (‘plant growth promoter’). As well as its effectiveness, it is safe, eco-friendly and cost-effective.
