Abstract
In order to evaluation of the effects of narrow and wide row spacing and nitrogen levels on agronomic and physiological traits of cotton varieties, an split-split plot experiment based on randomized complete block design with four replication was conducted during 2008 at Agriculture Research Station of Gharakhil-Ghaemshahr. In this study three varieties (Sahel, N200 and Chirpan539) and two row spaces (40 and 80 cm) and four levels of nitrogen fertilizer (0, 75, 150 and 225 kg.ha-1) were combined as treatments. Different row spacing influenced height, number of node, number of boll and weight of boll. Yield and yield components of cotton significantly influenced by different nitrogen levels. Application of 225kg.ha-1 nitrogen fertilizer produced the maximum yield, height, number of node and boll as compared to another rates of nitrogen. In this experiment we observed maximum weight of boll and number of sympodial branch observed in 150 kg.ha-1 nitrogen fertilizer level. Varieties Sahel proved best for producing the yield, height, number of node, weight of boll and earliness as compared to N200and Chirpan539 varieties.
